Meet the quiet heroes of the burrow

Seven Fluffs standing together on the green woods lawn at night: a lilac Twinkle Mouse with pink ears holding a small gold star lantern, a round blue Lumi Firefly with a glowing yellow tail and a smiling star popping over her head, an orange Acorn Pip squirrel with a big curled tail holding an acorn, a white Frostkit fox kit in a blue striped scarf, and in front a round brown Pinecone Owlet with a pinecone cap and a sprout, a lilac Glowshell Snail with a glowing swirly mint shell, and a brown Stumpy Beaver with buck teeth peeking over a tall tree stump

Fluffenders has sixteen Fluffs, and some of them like attention. Achoo Kitty sneezes glitter. Huggy Koala turns a Grump into a friend. Dozy Mole goes BOING. But every night on the lawn also depends on Fluffs who just get on with the job. This Monday, meet seven of them. They’re all in the picture at the top, from the mouse with the lantern to the beaver with the stump.

Twinkle Mouse

Every Fluff costs stardust, and Twinkle Mouse makes it. It carries a little lantern with a star inside, and every 24 seconds or so it lets a smiling star float up for you to tap. A Twinkle Mouse costs 50 stardust and makes 25 at a time, so it pays for itself with its second star. It’s your reward for the very first night, and on night 2, Twinkle Lights, Granny Hoot gives the advice that holds for the whole game: “Twinkle Mice make stardust. Place three or more!”

Lumi Firefly

In the Whispering Woods, the trees close in overhead and only half as many stars fall from the sky. Granny Hoot warns you on the first night there: “Fewer stars fall here. Plant Twinkle Mice early!” Win that night, Into the Woods, and Lumi joins the team.

Lumi is a little round firefly who hovers above the grass with her tail light on. She costs only 25 stardust and glows 15 at a time. Give her a minute on the lawn and she grows up: her light gets bigger, and every glow is worth 25. Granny Hoot sums her up in one line: “Lumi is cheap and grows brighter. Plant early!”

A close-up of the woods lawn at night, where three lilac Twinkle Mice with pink ears and curly pink tails, each holding a small gold lantern with a star inside, stand in a column next to three round blue Lumi Fireflies with see-through wings, yellow antennae and big glowing yellow tail lights, while plump smiling yellow stars pop up out of them, a fourth Twinkle Mouse stands a step to the right with its eyes squeezed shut and a star over its head, and a row of hedgehogs waits by the dark edge of the lawn on the left
Searched “tower defense stardust farming.” Found mice with lanterns.

Frostkit

Frostkit is an arctic fox kit, white and fluffy, with a blue striped scarf. It joins after night 6. Instead of bubbles, it throws snowflakes. A Grump hit by one turns a frosty blue and walks at half speed for ten seconds, and every new snowflake starts the ten seconds over. Its snowflakes are no stronger than bubbles. What they buy is time, or as Granny Hoot puts it, “Frostkit slows Grumps so your friends can catch up.”

Acorn Pip

Acorn Pip is a squirrel with a big orange tail and an acorn held in both paws, and it joins after night 8, Kettle Heads. Its whole description fits in two sentences: “Throws two acorns at a time. Twice the fun!” Each acorn is as strong as one of Bubbun’s bubbles, so one Pip does the work of two Bubbuns in a single square. At 200 stardust, it’s the priciest of today’s seven. On a crowded lawn, that square is worth it.

A close-up of Moonberry Meadow, where two white Frostkits with pointy blue-tipped ears and blue striped scarves throw glowing snowflakes to the right, next to two orange Acorn Pip squirrels with big curled tails, a fluffy white sheep and a column of lilac Twinkle Mice with lanterns on the left, while across the grass a purple Grump has fallen asleep on a white cloud with a little Zz above it, a pale blue frosted Grump comes on behind it, a grumpy Grump in a teal tea kettle hat walks in front, and another Grump wears a big brown acorn cap
Search: “tower defense ice fox.” It came with a scarf.

Pinecone Owlet

On night 12, Firefly Glade, the Bark Grumps arrive holding up wooden planks, and bubbles and acorns bonk right off them. Win that night and the Owlet joins the team. It’s a round brown owl with a pinecone cap and a tiny sprout on top, and it doesn’t throw straight. It lobs pinecones in a high arc, over planks and over pillows. A lob that high can even reach Grumps floating on dandelion puffs, which straight shots can’t touch. A pinecone hits twice as hard as an acorn, but the Owlet only throws about half as often.

A close-up of the woods lawn at night, where three round brown Pinecone Owlets with pinecone caps and little green sprouts squeeze their eyes shut as they swing a wing up to throw, two pinecones flying in a high arc across the grass, toward a purple Grump hiding behind a tall wooden bark plank with a sprout on top, while another purple Grump frowns further back, and a column of blue Lumi Fireflies with glowing tails and a row of hedgehogs wait on the left
People also ask: “what beats a shield in tower defense?” Pinecones.

Glowshell Snail

The snail joins after night 13, Pinecone Hill, just before the Whisper Mist rolls in and Grumps start hiding in it. Its swirly shell glows, and the mist stays away from every square around it, about two squares in each direction. At 25 stardust, it’s also a cheap wall. When a Grump starts nibbling, the snail tucks into its shell and holds on. Granny Hoot: “Snails are cheap walls that light the mist!”

Stumpy Beaver

Woolly the sheep is a soft wall. Stumpy Beaver is a tall one. It stands behind a tree stump almost as tall as itself and peeks over the top, and when Grumps nibble, the stump gets bite marks. It has twice Woolly’s toughness, and it joins after night 17, Tunnel Trouble.

Height is the point. A Pogo Grump that tries to bounce over Stumpy loses its pogo stick and has to walk. A Grump floating on a dandelion puff bumps into the stump and drops to the ground. Granny Hoot says it best: “Nobody jumps or floats over Stumpy Beaver!”

A close-up of the woods lawn at night, where two brown Stumpy Beavers with buck teeth and flat tails peek over tall tree stumps with little sprouts on top, one behind the other, and a purple Pogo Grump has just crashed into the lower stump, its pogo stick tipping over, while a second Grump stands frowning on the grass after losing its dandelion puff, white dandelion seeds drifting away at the top, and on the left a white bunny blows bubbles, a brown Owlet stands behind it and a column of blue Lumi Fireflies glows by the edge
Typed “tower defense tall wall.” Got a beaver with a stump.
