Night 17 of Fluffenders is called Tunnel Trouble, and it brings a Grump that nothing can touch until it climbs out. A Digger Grump tunnels under the grass of the Whispering Woods and climbs out right in the middle of your Fluffs. It’s Tuesday, so here are the level secrets: where a Digger comes up, what can wait for it there and who can’t help once it’s out.
The picture at the top is a Digger’s tunnel, a yellow hard hat on a moving pile of dirt, arriving right next to a Dozy Mole.
What’s coming
Tunnel Trouble has eleven waves, and two of them are huge: the eighth and the last, each led by a Flag Grump. Only two Diggers come in all. The first one tunnels in alone in the fifth wave, so you get a good look at it. The second comes with a Grumplet in the seventh wave. Around them come Grumplets and Acorn Cap Grumps, a Pogo Grump in the second wave and a Pillow Grump in the tenth.
You start with 700 stardust, and the first wave arrives after 22 seconds. Under the trees, stardust falls half as often as on the meadow, so plant your Twinkle Mice or Lumi Fireflies before anything else.
Nothing reaches it underground
A Digger starts at the right edge of the lawn and goes straight under. While it digs, it’s untouchable. Bubbles, acorns and pinecones fly right over its tunnel, and a Bubbun won’t even blow at it, because it only shoots at a Grump it can hit. Dozy Mole doesn’t go off, Prickles can’t poke it, Gulpy Frog can’t gulp it, and even a Rolly rolls right over it.

It’s quick, too. A Digger moves through the dirt much faster than a Grumplet walks on the grass, so it gets under your front line in no time. Once it’s out, it’s tougher as well: it takes 25 bubbles to tuck in, against 14 for a Grumplet.
It always comes up in the same place
Here is the first secret: a Digger always comes up in the third column of its row, counted from the burrow. It climbs out right where a Grump would stand to nibble a Fluff in that column. When the first one shows up, Granny Hoot points at that very spot: “Diggers pop up here! Try Prickles or Moles.”
Climbing out takes a moment. For just under half a second the Digger can’t walk or nibble, and that’s when the third column does its work.
Prickles and Moles in the third column
The second secret: put a Prickles Hedgehog in the third column, and the Digger comes up right on its spikes. That first poke is a big one, worth more than seven ordinary pokes. After that, Prickles keeps poking it once a second while it stands on the spot.
A Dozy Mole works even better. Once a Mole in the third column has woken up, a Digger that comes up next to it sets it off at once, and the BOING tucks it in on the spot. A Mole costs only 25 stardust, but it needs 14 seconds to wake up after you plant it. A Digger spends about 20 seconds crossing the lawn underground, so a Mole planted as soon as you see the dirt start moving is awake in time. Each Mole goes off only once, though, so keep one ready for the second Digger too.
Behind your back
The third secret is the tricky one. Bubbuns, Acorn Pips and Pinecone Owlets only aim to the right, toward where the Grumps come from. A Digger that comes up in the third column is already behind everyone in the fourth column and beyond, so those Fluffs can’t help at all. Only Fluffs in the first three columns of that row can reach it as it walks on toward the burrow.

That’s why a Woolly in the third column is a good friend on this night. The Digger comes up right in front of it and starts nibbling the wool, and a Woolly takes ages to nibble through. Meanwhile the Bubbuns in the first two columns have all the time they need.
And if a Digger is the one that gets into the burrow, the tip after the lost night says it plainly: “Prickles and Moles catch Diggers as they pop up.”
What to bring
You have seven slots. Bring Lumi Fireflies or Twinkle Mice for stardust, Bubbuns for the walkers, and Prickles and Dozy Moles for the third column. Add Woolly to hold the front, and keep a slot for something strong for the two huge waves. A Digger can pick any row, so watch where each tunnel is heading and get a Mole or Prickles into that row’s third column in time.
Win the night, and Stumpy Beaver joins the team. It’s a big, strong stump: Pogo Grumps can’t jump over it, and floating Grumps bump right into it.
