Count Crowbeak has stolen all six Seed Stars, and Milo has to win them back one island at a time. The first island, the Sunny Orchard, is where every player starts. This Saturday we sailed past it and took a few snapshots from the other five: ice, sand, a jungle at night, a forge and a kingdom on the clouds.
Frosty Fjord
The first stop is all snow and slippery ice. In Penguin Pass, snow slows Milo down, but the melon bushes grow back right in the snowfields, so it pays to dive in. The ice lane between them belongs to the penguins. A penguin wiggles while it takes aim, then slides in a straight line, so the trick is simply to turn away.

A level later, the goal changes from fruit to family. Lost chicks wait all over the snowfield, and each one Milo touches waddles along behind him. Bring them to the nest and they are home. Snowballs roll down their lanes, though, and one bump scatters the whole parade.
Sunstone Dunes
The desert island is full of old ruins, palm trees and sand that slows you down, and quicksand that tries to pull you in. In Whistling Pass, a strong wind blows straight across the middle of the level, and tumbleweeds ride it from one side to the other. They don’t hurt, they just shove, which is somehow more annoying. Somewhere on the pass there is also a portal, and behind it a walled garden full of golden pears.

Glowshroom Jungle
Night falls on the fourth island. In Lantern Grove, the only light at first comes from Milo himself, so you see a small circle of mossy ground and a lot of fireflies. Touch a lamp and it lights up its corner of the grove for good, and every piece of fruit around it starts to glow. The grove also hides three Sun Coins, and in the dark they are easy to miss.

Ember Forge
The fifth island is hot. In Belt Works, conveyor belts carry fruit from the bushes at one end to the furnace pits at the other. Eat it on the way, or it burns up with a puff of smoke and the bush grows a new one. The belts carry Milo too, and always toward the fire, so every snack is a little race.

Candy Cloud Kingdom
The last island floats in the sky, with candy-cane poles, lollipops and a rainbow over the walls. In Crumbling Clouds, a big hole in the middle drops straight down into open sky, and the only way across is a bridge of cloud tiles. Each tile sags and drops away a moment after Milo leaves it, then puffs back a few seconds later, so you cross in one go and don’t look back.

A friend on every island
Each of these five islands ends with a boss level. Win it and a snake who was stuck there is freed and joins the team: Frosty Mint grips the ice better, Sandy keeps full speed in sand, Lumi carries a bigger light in the dark, Cinder can touch lava for a second without harm, and Floss jumps longer and floatier. Pick any of them on the Snake Team screen and the same island plays a little differently.
