Moonlit Hollow has ten ponds, and in every one of them Lulla has the same job. She’s a little pink axolotl who can’t sing, but her tail makes ripples, and the ripples wake the friends who can. Every song makes Glow, and when a pond has enough Glow, its Moon wakes up.
For this Screenshot Saturday, we visited six of those ponds and took a snapshot in each, right as a ripple went out. The one at the top is from Frost Mirror, the eighth pond, where Glim, the firefly granny, warns: “Ice! Ripples bounce right back.” A ripple that reaches an ice floe gets passed on, a little weaker, but the ice itself doesn’t sing. Prism, the fox kit with dragonfly wings, sits in the middle, and its ripple is a rainbow: everyone it touches sings triple.
Lily Cradle: where it starts
The first pond is the gentlest. Glim greets Lulla with a hint: “Psst, little one. Your tail makes ripples. Try it!” Here every lotus bud hatches a Pip, a green bunny with a leaf on top. A Pip sings when a ripple touches it and sends out a ripple of its own, so one tap can wake the whole pond if the Pips sit close enough. When the Moon wakes, Pip can’t contain itself: “I can SING again! Again! Again!”

Bubble Bend: someone big
In the second pond, Glim hears something: “Someone big is snoring under the bubbles.” The big voice here belongs to Bloop, a round blue critter with a fish tail and a little fountain on its head. Bloop has a big voice, so its ripples reach much further than a Pip’s. When the Moon wakes, Bloop is pleased: “Mmm... that was a good, deep song.”

Pebble Steps: go around
The fourth pond has two big stones, and they matter. Glim explains: “Stones stop ripples. Go around them, dear.” A friend hiding behind a stone won’t hear a ripple from the other side, so where everyone sits really counts here.
This pond belongs to Twinkle, a yellow mouse with two glowing antennae. Twinkle lights the way: every friend after it in a chain sings sweeter. When the Moon wakes, Twinkle can hardly believe it: “I... I made the dark a little lighter? Oh my.”

Snoozy Shallows: lilies that nap
The sixth pond is the sleepiest one. Glim sighs: “Even the lilies are too sleepy to open.” Two of the friends sit on night lilies, with pink-and-white petals around the pad. For about two and a half seconds of every twelve, a night lily closes and the friend on it dozes, so it’s worth waiting for the petals to open.
In the middle sits Dozy, a peach kitten shaped like a loaf, in a purple nightcap. Dozy counts its songs, and after five ripples it yawns a giant wave three times the size. When the Moon finally wakes, Dozy asks: “*Yaaawn*... did I miss anything?”

Dandelion Drift: going with the flow
The seventh pond has a current, and Glim has advice: “The current is strong. Let it carry the song.” The water carries ripples and anything in flight along with it.
That includes seeds. Puff is a fluffy cream chick with a crown of dandelion seeds. When a ripple reaches Puff, it sneezes, and three seeds fly off and start three new ripples. You can guess what Puff says when the Moon wakes: “Ah-choo! Sorry! Happy ah-choo!” In the snapshot, Dozy is two songs into its five, and the dots over its nightcap keep count.
